¿Cómo enviar libros en Chile? Mis experiencias con las empresas de transporte y embalaje

En Chile, tenemos la opción de ocupar distintas empresas proveedoras de transporte para el envío de distintos productos, acá te enseñaré mi experiencia y consejos con estas empresas para resolver mejor cómo enviar libros en Chile.

Las empresas tradicionales

Existen 3 empresas tradicionales que copan gran parte del mercado de los envíos: Correos de Chile (pública), Starken (de TurBus) y Chilexpress. Si alguna vez trabajas de forma independiente y vendes productos, probablemente ocupes alguna de estas.

Enviando libros con Correos de Chile

Yo nunca he enviado libros míos a través de Correos de Chile. La razón principal es que ninguna sucursal me queda cerca y, la única vez que estuve en una fila para enviar uno, la fila era tan larga que al final no lo mandé. Era un envío desde La Serena a Ovalle.

Desde el punto de vista de receptor, SÍ he recibido libros enviados por Correos de Chile. Un caso que recuerdo mucho fueron unos libros de la Editorial Bordelibre que es de La Serena. Me parece que ellos tienen un convenio especial con la empresa, el envío fue muy barato y llegó de forma muy expedita, al día siguiente desde La Serena a Puente Alto. Me sorprendió gratamente.

Una muy mala experiencia, en contraste, fue cuando envié una caja de mis libros a un domicilio de Puerto Varas (no la recordaba como emisor porque la imprenta los mandó por mí, eran libros nuevos). Los libros llegaron a la sucursal de Puerto Varas y no tuvieron movimiento en cerca de 8 días, decía “en reparto”.

Viajé en bus, fui a la sucursal a preguntar y la chica que atendía me dijo “que suerte que vino, lo íbamos a devolver a Santiago porque no lo venían a buscar”. Con fría calma y una sonrisa algo hipócrita le dije que yo era el remitente y que el envío decía que era a domicilio.

Enviando libros con Starken

La mayor experiencia que tengo es con Starken, que es de TurBus. Es la empresa que más he utilizado, tanto porque tiene varias sucursales que me quedan cerca como porque ofrece valores baratos.

Mi experiencia con los envíos es variopinta. La mayoría de los envíos ha llegado a tiempo, lo que jode es que la experiencia en cada sucursal es demasiado diferente.

La mayoría de las sucursales atiende muy lento, entonces ir a dejar un libro a una sucursal puede tomar fácilmente 1 hora, incluso más.

Cerca de Navidad, me tocó hacer envíos de mis libros y la sucursal de Metro Mirador (Unimarc) a la que solía ir estaba colapsada a las 10:00 de la mañana.

Textual, la joven salió a decirle a la gente que estaba esperando en la calle (yo incluido) que “no atenderían a más personas que las que estaban adentro del supermercado”… jodí no más y eso que cerraban a las 17:00 horas. Tuve que buscar otro proveedor…

Con la pandemia, especialmente en los meses en que los buses de TurBus tenían suspendidos sus servicios, el desplazamiento de las encomiendas era absurdamente lento. Después de editar un libro, enviamos unos libros desde la imprenta a una casa en Talca. Los libros fueron recibidos un día lunes con carácter urgente y fueron enviados a Talca el día viernes… ¡viernes! Creo que ahora no están tan lentos.

Como receptor, he recibido libros de YaLibros, de la Feria Chilena del Libro, Guardianes del Sur, entre otras tiendas y funciona bien, además de ser muy barato. Cuando tienes volúmenes grandes, es posible hacer convenios con la empresa y acceder a tarifas preferenciales. También he enviado libros a domicilio y afortunadamente nunca tuve problemas, aunque ya casi no uso el servicio.

Enviando libros con Chilexpress

Chilexpress es más caro que Starken, de hecho se fijan más en las dimensiones y el peso. En Starken solo cobran el peso (o solo aparece eso en la boleta).

En cuanto a experiencias, en sucursal la atención puede ser un poco más rápida aunque en lugares céntricos o ciertos barrios es posible que junten a personas que envían o reciben encomiendas, con personas que van a depositar dinero al extranjero. Tema aparte, si eres vendedor de MercadoLibre te darán todas las preferencias, pero si vienes como particular, tendrás que esperar a todas esas personas.

La mayoría de los envíos ha funcionado bien. Los únicos casos malos que recuerdo fue un envío a Río Bueno que estaba demorado, llegó a la sucursal de allá y no tenía movimiento hacia el domicilio en unos 6 días. Busqué el formulario de contacto para el reclamo, me dieron un número de seguimiento y al día siguiente el envío llegó a domicilio. Por ese lado, ¡bien!. Otro caso fue un envío que tenía que ir a Pitrufquén (una ciudad sureña), pero que lo mandaron a La Serena por error y desde ahí lo mandaron al sur… cosas que suceden, pero llegó.

Como receptor, me parece que no he tenido ningún problema.

Las empresas con las que envío libros ahora

El contexto de la pandemia cambió totalmente las cosas. Todos mis libros los envío a domicilio, pero ya no hago filas en ninguna sucursal de estas empresas más grandes.

Si bien ellas ofrecen servicios de Pick Up, de venir a buscar tus productos y llevarlos, actualmente he ocupado más el servicio de otras empresas porque no involucran costos extra.

Para envíos dentro de Santiago y envíos a regiones, estoy usando el servicio de Fullify. Esta empresa viene a buscar mis productos a la casa y los envía a domicilio. En el caso de los desplazamientos dentro de Santiago, lo realizan de forma interna. Y para los envíos que van a regiones, usan Lodis.

Para mí, como escritor primerizo en 2017, fue todo un tema aprender a embalar correctamente los libros, cómo etiquetar los productos, hacer los seguimientos y todo eso… nunca lo había hecho.

Al principio, enviaba los libros envueltos en muchas bolsas plásticas, bien forrados por todos lados para evitar cualquier golpe. También llegué a usar cajas por lo mismo y pensé en comprar cajas a medida al por mayor para enviar todos mis libros.

En los tiempos en que no había pandemia, compré de estos sobres que tienen plástico burbuja en el interior. ¡Eran caros! Como ejemplo, 50 sobres cuestan cerca de $45.000, ¡poco menos de $1.000 por sobre!

Mi solución actual es combinar bolsas de papel kraft (casi todos mis libros entregados en Santiago usan esto, digo que es “un pan caliente”) y los envíos a regiones tienen plástico burbuja. Me compré un rollo gigante al por mayor.

Las bolsas de papel kraft las he comprado en negocios de bolsas de papel, hay uno en Providencia que es bien rendidor aunque la última vez que fui estaba cerrado (TodoEnvases). No sé si abran en pandemia, la última vez tuve que usar otro. El rollo de plástico burbuja de 25 metros lo compré en Mercadolibre, menos de $10.000. ¡Ahí sí po!

Más allá de mi método, para ir cerrando y resumiendo, hay distintas maneras de embalar libros:

Sobres al vacío
Encomiendas con plástico burbuja o algo que amortigüe golpes
Cajas con lo anterior

Sea cual sea la forma que prefieras, lo primordial es que los paquetes contengan:

Nombre de receptor
RUT de la persona
Teléfono de contacto
Dirección de entrega o sucursal de entrega
Teléfono y nombre del remitente

A la vez, los envíos deben estar bien sellados. Si usarás bolsas de papel como yo, sí o sí debes forrar todo en cinta adhesiva (puede ser transparente o la café).

Cuando entregas los paquetes en empresas como Correos de Chile, Starken, Chilexpress… junto con la boleta, te darán un número de seguimiento (también se le puede llamar trackeo).

Ese número se lo das al cliente para que siga el itinerario de su compra. Por tu parte, lo ideal es tener un archivo Excel donde tengas todas las encomiendas que has mandado, así puedes controlar mejor cuando ocurre un atraso (por ejemplo, así detecté el libro que todavía no entregaban en Río Bueno)

Los envíos puedes ser enviados por pagar (en algunas empresas es solo a sucursal, a domicilio no lo permiten), en otras requieren que los pagues sí o sí. Para cotizar los costos, MIDE TUS PAQUETES. Mide largo, ancho, alto y el peso, con eso tendrás el valor exacto del paquete (¡guarda las medidas de paquetes anteriores!). Las empresas cobran por peso volumétrico.

Finalmente, en el caso de Fullify, ellos te darán un número de seguimiento aunque no es en el momento inmediato al retiro de los paquetes. En envíos locales como el que realiza Claudio o de emprendimientos similares, los repartos generalmente se hacen en el mismo día.

Otras experiencias especiales que he tenido

Pullman Cargo, Cruz del Sur, Urbano

Como emisor, puedo incluir a Pullman Cargo. Ellos tienen una oficina cerca de Metro Parque Bustamante. Cuando fui no había nadie, me atendieron muy rápido, aunque el envío salió bastante más caro que Starken.

Otros libros de una imprenta fueron enviados a través de Cruz del Sur. Tienen buen servicio de reparto en el sur de Chile, especialmente si necesitas enviar a Chiloé. Las personas de allá confían harto en ese servicio.

Otra imprenta envió libros a Coyhaique a través de Urbano Express. El número de seguimiento nunca funcionó, pero los libros llegaron. El transporte Santiago – Coyhaique demoró exactamente 14 días. El reparto en Santiago funcionó bien.

Envíos recibidos de Amazon

Aunque amerita un artículo aparte. He recibido varios envíos de libros de Amazon, tanto de mis copias de autor como libros de otras personas que he comprado tentándome en la plataforma.

La mayoría de las veces el embalaje llega bien (son sobres con plástico burbuja), pero hubo una vez en que un libro llegó en un sobre gigante y llegó todo doblado. Es importante que cuando embalen libros, lo hagan a la medida para que no ocurran esas cosas.
